COUNCILLORS have granted a licence for a new restaurant and music venue in Northallerton despite some objections.
Concerns were raised by some residents that the venue, to be called the Potting Shed, would create a late night noise nuisance but the licence application was granted by Hambleton District Council with conditions that should allay those fears.
The added condition is that live music shall cease at the venue at 9pm and no external areas of the premises shall be used between the hours of 11pm and 8am.
The modification and condition were both volunteered by the applicant before Wednesday’s hearing.
The Potting Shed aims to be a family friendly venue with extensive beer gardens and a roof terrace and will stand on the site of the former Rutson Hospital in the centre of Northallerton.
