A DRUG dealer who had £14,780 cash, a set of knuckledusters and an imitation pistol in a van must wait to be sentenced after a judge said he may need to give evidence first.

Daniel Green admits a series of charges including two counts of possessing cocaine with intent to supply and possession of drugs including amphetamine, M-Cat, cannabis and ecstasy.

He has also pleaded guilty to possessing several prohibited items as well as criminal property.

The charges arise from two incidents – the first in Middlesbrough town centre in July 2014 when ten bags of cocaine, worth about £400, were found in a Seat vehicle Green was sat in, along with a set of scales.

Police searched the defendant’s home in Northallerton and found more drugs, as well as a ‘dealer’s list’.

Prosecuting at Teesside Crown Court, Shaun Dryden also detailed a second incident on May 8 2015 when Green was arrested for an alleged shop theft at Tesco in Northallerton.

This time more drugs were found on or about his person as well as keys to two vehicles which led police to a Mazda and Ford Transit van.

Two ecstasy tablets were found in the Mazda and the cash and weapons in the van.

Green, 28, of Moorview Road, Northallerton, told police the cash was money he had saved from odd jobs as he operated a mechanical repair business from the van.

His barrister Jonny Walker said he maintained this position, saying the cash did not originate from drugs supply.

Judge Sean Morris replied: “Well he will probably have to give evidence then.”

The judge adjourned the case in order that further discussions between Mr Walker and the defendant could establish his position and remanded Green in custody in the meantime.
