WORK has taken place to clean up one of Northallerton’s main cycle routes.

Local residents helped volunteers from the sustainable transport charity Sustrans to tidy up and make a safe and useable route for both cyclists and people on foot.

“It was very satisfying to see what we have achieved in a single morning,” said Sally Anderson, chair of the Northallerton and Villages Community Forum.

“The path between the back of Halfords and Hambleton Leisure Centre had become very overgrown and difficult to use.”

The future plans of the Forum will be discussed at its AGM on October 13 in the Civic Centre at 4pm.

Members of the Northallerton 880 group will also be at the meeting to talk about their ambitious plans for the 880th anniversary of the Battle of the Standard in August next year.
