A HOST of family entertainment is set to wow the crowds whatever the weather at this year’s Northallerton Carnival.

The event, in Sunday, July 10 at the town’s Applegarth Park, kicking off at noon, boasts attractions to suit all ages with monster trucks, a rodeo bull, fair rides and climbing wall.

John Forrest, president of Thirsk and Northallerton Lions Club which organise the event, said he hoped youngsters would get involved in the children’s races and enjoy the day.

He said: “The event is sponsored by local businesses and it is designed to give the people of Northallerton some entertainment and enjoy a day of fun, with lots to keep children occupied.

“It should be a fantastic day, with a parade of bands through the High Street at noon, lead by the carnival queen in an open top vintage car, accompanied by a lion.”

The event will be compared by Miss Teen Northallerton, 18-year-old Emily Austin.

Other highlights will include races for children aged three to five, six to eight, and nine to 11; a demonstration by North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue; singers and dancers on the stage; static cars; birds of prey; and various stalls.
