A WOMAN walking with her dog and four-year-old son in North Yorkshire was injured after being bitten by a dog.

Police are appealing for information following the dog attack in Thornton-le-Moor, near Northallerton on Wednesday (June 22) at about 3.30pm.

The woman and her young son were walking their dog, accompanied by a friend, when a black Alsatian-type dog which was off its lead approached them and attacked the woman's dog.

It caused puncture wounds to the dog’s leg. When the woman attempted to separate the animals, it then bit her hand.

The male owner of the Alsatian-type dog then approached, removed his dog and walked away from the incident. He is described as being in his forties with dark, greying hair and wearing a leather jacket.
