A VILLAGE is gearing up for its four-day summer celebration over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Brompton Carnival and Sports Day is due to begin tomorrow evening (Friday, May 27) with family rounders and penalty shoot-out on the sports field on Station Road, in the village near Northallerton.
The following day, Saturday, May 28, a children’s sports day will be held at High End Green in the village from 3pm.
Sunday’s events (May 29) will begin with a “carnival praise service” on the church green at 10.30am led by Reverend Jonathan Cooper, followed by a handicraft show at Brompton Village Hall.
Monday (May 30) will see a day of carnival entertainment, with a children’s and adults’ fancy dress competition and parade from 1pm through the village, which will be led by the local scouting groups.
Throughout the afternoon, entertainment will include a dance display by Planet Dance, singing from Brompton Singers and Zumba Dancing.
There will also by displays by Northallerton Amateur Boxing Club throughout the afternoon, a chance to test skills against the rodeo bull, a reptile display, face-painting, and Brompton Carnival’s own Wipe-Out.
The event will finish with children and adults’ sports at 5.30pm and a carnival party at the Village Inn at Water End from 7.30pm until late.
