A CHARITY night of 1940s nostalgia will take place next month, when people can experience the blitz spirit.

The family event is taking place at Northallerton Cricket Club on Saturday, April 9 and will raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

George Formby tribute act Paul Casper will be appearing alongside duo The Blitz Sisters, who perform songs ranging from the Andrews Sisters and Peggy Lee to Vera Lynn.

One half of the duo, Emma Kaye-Hudson, comes from Northallerton and teamed up with singing partner Lil Morrissey when they studied performing arts at Northumbria University together. They have been in live session on BBC Radio Two and were a popular act at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2012.

People are encouraged to attend the night in 1940s fashions if they wish.

Organiser Nimmo Clarke said: “It will be an evening of fun, laughter and music as we go back in time to an era where the spirit of the nation was lifted by a glittering array of songs and entertainment. It promises to be a great night and all for a wonderful cause.”

Tickets to the Family Fun 1940s Night are available from Nimmo Clark on 01609-775058. The evening begins at 7.30pm.
