PREPARATIONS to hold a charitable 10k race are picking up pace in North Yorkshire.

Race organisers of Northallerton’s first ever 10k run were given the go-ahead by North Yorkshire County Council after bidding to bring the race to the town’s streets in aid of the Pendragon Community Trust.

A full race route has now been revealed for the run that will start and finish on Northallerton’s High Street, with all the money raised through entrance fees and donations going straight to the Pendragon charity.

The Northallerton 10k race organiser, Thomas Kerfoot, said: “We have a really proactive team behind the charity to make it quite the event and the intention is to roll it out year on year and tweak the challenge as we go.

“As for the day, we have some incredible sponsors backing us so we are hoping to make the start and finish line quiet the spectacle with various surprises.

“The entry fee will provide a stable income for the long-awaited Pendragon Centre – a multi-sensory centre catering to a wide range of disabilities.

“So you will be getting fit and helping a super local charity at the same time. The route is very scenic yet avoiding main roads, with a big finish in the town centre.”

Cash prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third-placed finishers of the race planned for Sunday, May 29.
