PERSONNEL at an RAF base are set to join a TV presenter who is walking ten marathons in ten days, from Hartlepool United to Wembley Stadium, to help beat prostate cancer.
The team from RAF Leeming, near Bedale, led by Logistics Squadron, will also carry out a number of fundraising activities over the next two months, including a coffee morning and race night, to support Prostate Cancer UK's Men United Campaign.
On the 22 March, they will join Sky Sports presenter, Jeff Stelling, on the Ebor Way in North Yorkshire for the second stage of his march, walking from York City's Bootham Crescent to Leeds United's Elland Road.
Event organiser, senior aircraftman Christopher Edge, of Logistics Squadron, said: “We have assembled a strong team from all different walks of life and it’s great to see everyone come together to join the fight.
"The team is highly motivated, positive and has a willing desire to succeed in raising the awareness of prostate cancer.
"It’s a charity very close to my heart as friends and family of mine have been diagnosed with prostate cancer in recent years.”
