A NORTH Yorkshire youth theatre is preparing to bring the story of the Jets and the Sharks to life for local audiences.

Crash Bang Wallop (CBW) Youth Theatre is due to bring its production of Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story to the Forum theatre in Northallerton from February 10.

It tells the story of how Tony and Maria find love in their divided community, along with prejudice and blind hatred and contains well known songs such as America, Maria and Somewhere.

The CBW Youth Theatre was started in Stokesley in 2005 by director and professional actor Dan Brooks to provide good quality, affordable musical opportunities for young people.

The organisation is open to children between the ages of five and 20 from Great Ayton, Stokesley and the surrounding area. In recent years they have performed Les Miserable, Miss Saigon, Oklahoma, Hairspray and many other productions, as well as staging summer workshops and courses.

For tickets to West Side Story contact the CBW box office on 01642-722192 or book online at; www.forumnorthallerton.org.uk

The musical will run from Wednesday (February 10) to Saturday (February 13) at 7.30pm, with an additional 2pm matinee performance on the Saturday.
