AN entire school is in celebratory mood after being given top marks by a team of Government inspectors.
Dishforth Airfield’s primary school has been graded as outstanding in every aspect of the Ofsted framework following its recent inspection.
The report recognised headteacher Julie Lyon’s drive and ambition in creating “an ethos of inclusion and high aspiration for all pupils.”
It said Mrs Lyon had established a staff team that was highly committed to improving pupils’ outcomes.
The report added: “Her outward-looking research of best practice has brought about well-thought-through changes which have improved outcomes for pupils.”
Teachers too came in for praise. “Teaching over time is outstanding and results in pupils making exceptional progress from their starting points when they arrive in the school,” said Ofsted.
Mrs Lyon said she was “incredibly proud” of the Ofsted result, adding that it was a “testament to the hard work, determination and commitment shown by all the staff and governors. It reflects the fantastic achievement of our children and parents.”
The school is currently preparing to say goodbye to its current community from 9 Regiment Army Air Corps and will be welcoming 6 Royal Logistics Corps from Gütersloh, Germany, in the summer.
