A CHANCE has emerged to own a rare watch as worn by James Bond – for someone prepared to dig deep into their pocket.

Tennants Auctioneers in Leyburn have a rare stainless steel Rolex wristwatch coming up for auction in a two day autumn fine art Sale on November 13 and 14.

The Submariner Oyster Perpetual was first released in 1958 and was the last model of the so-called “James Bond” Submariners - derived from the fact the Submariner frequently worn in the early Bond movies featured a case without a crown guard, as does the example for sale.

It was made in the second month of 1958 and still retains its original, black glossy gilt four-line detail, with the waterproof depth in silver. It is being auctioned with its original Rolex case; guarantee booklet and service and submariner booklets.

However the potential buyer will also have to pay a James bond-style price – as experts have estimated its worth as between £4,000 and £6,000.
