FOODIES are invited to raise money for a local charity by trying some of Yorkshire’s finest food and drink.

A Yorkshire Taster event is taking place in Northallerton tomorrow (Thursday, October 8) to raise money for Herriot Hospice Homecare.

Sam Turners & Sons hardware store will be hosting the event and allowing people to sample and buy products made in Yorkshire, including cheeses, wines, breads, pickles, pies, chocolates, jams and cakes.

Tickets are £5, including a glass of wine and all proceeds will go to the charity, which looks after people suffering life-limiting illnesses in their own homes in Hambleton and Richmondshire.

The charity’s fundraising manager Christine Robinson said: “We will have some fantastic local produce for people to try, and buy, and with Christmas on the way, this could be the perfect time to start your shopping early.

“Sam Turners & Sons are fantastic supporters of Herriot Hospice Homecare and we would like to thank them for staging the event.

“This is always one of our most popular fundraisers so people will need to act quickly if they would like to attend.”

The event will take place in Sammie’s Cafe in the store from 7pm to 9pm. Tickets are available from Sammie’s clothing department or online from www.herriothh.org.uk/online_shop
