TWO hair salon owners have raised more than £3,000 for a charity by running seven half marathons on seven consecutive days.

Paul Carrigan and Ashley Cameron, who run a number of Saks branches in North Yorkshire, ran between the group's salons in Northallerton, Darlington, York and Barnard Castle.

The group, which has recently raised £10,000 by offering appointments for donations, is supporting The Eve Appeal in a two-year charity partnership by raising funds and awareness for gynaecological cancers.

The charity was set up in 2002 to fund research into developing effective methods of risk prediction, earlier detection and developing screening for women-only cancers.

Stephen Kee, the group's managing director, said: “We chose to support The Eve Appeal to take our ethos to another level and in no way did we anticipate this level of response from our network of franchisees and salon teams.

"They’ve surpassed our expectations with the level of commitment to this worthwhile cause."
