A PRIMARY school that was told it needed to improve two years ago has now done exactly that.

Ofsted inspectors found Romanby primary school, Northallerton, is now good in all areas following a two day visit earlier this summer..

They talked to school leaders and governors, discussed learning and behaviour with pupils, watched an assembly, analysed school data and documentation and looked at pupils' work.

And they have now judged the school as good in all categories including leadership and management, behaviour and safety, quality of teaching, achievement of pupils and early years provision.

School head James Foxwell said: “We’re delighted to receive this judgement as it recognises all the work that has been put in by teachers, governors, parents and most importantly, the children since our last inspection.

“I am extremely proud to be head of this school and lead a team that is so passionate about ensuring each child is happy, safe and achieving the best they possibly can.”

He added: “Whilst we’re celebrating, we’re also very clear on what we need to do to drive standards even higher and that’s our focus for the next school year and beyond.”
