NORTH Yorkshire will be hosting its first ever National Ladies’ Shooting Day event.

The clay pigeon shooting event will take place on Saturday, June 27 at 22 clay pigeon shooting grounds across the country.

One of them will be held at Thimbleby Shooting Ground at Osmotherley near Northallerton.

Absolute beginners to more experienced shots are welcome to join the event, which will cost £35 for one day and includes top tuition, gun hire, cartridges and clays.

The event nationally is organised by Britain’s largest ladies-only shooting club, the Shotgun & Chelsea Bun Club, who are urging women to try out the sport on the day.

For every booking for National Ladies Shooting Day events, the club will donate £1 to the GB Ladies Shooting Team on their quest for more gold medals in Rio 2016 and ladies will be raising funds for The Eve Appeal – a female cancer charity.

They’ve teamed up with the Sport England’s #ThisGirlCan campaign to get as many people as possible trying out the sport.
