THE HEAD of a community show is hoping to hear from people proud of their homemade crafts.

Janet Seymour Kirk, chair of the Brompton Handicraft Show, said she is looking for anyone in the district who enjoys making jams, cakes, artwork or any other crafts to get involved in next year’s event.

The show is part of Brompton Carnival and Sports and was held on Sunday, May 24.

She said there had been a better number of entries than last year, but to keep it going they needed more people.

This year there were classes for bakery, homemade birthday cards, photographs, bottle of homemade wine and jam and flower arranging, along with classes for children in handwriting and other crafts.

Mrs Seymour Kirk said if anyone had ideas for other categories they would like to see in the show they should get in touch.

She said: “People can start thinking already, ahead of next year’s show. Already teenagers locally have asked for some categories for them, as children have categories for their work in the show.

“I would like to see the show grow - and it could given the opportunity. It would be good to see vegetables included in the show, but people can suggest a category for next year if there’s a craft they would like to see included.”
