A CHOIR is set to test the adage that couples who play together stay together to mark Valentine's Day.

Rock Choir leader Steve Brown who runs weekly sessions in Northallerton, Malton and York, has invited couples to attend a free taster session.

The Northallerton group meets on Thursdays, at 8pm, at the Masonic Lodge, Friarage Street.

Mr Brown said while it had been established singing had great health benefits, singing in a choir also encourages teamwork and the sense of reaching a shared goal, qualities that are crucial for a happy, long lasting relationship.

He said: “We sing great songs that everyone can identify with.

"Forget the fact that it’ll make you smile when you really nail it, but the couples I see in Rock Choir have a sense of shared achievement that has nothing to do with their everyday lives.”

Rock Choir has more than 17,000 members across the UK who are taught specially-arranged pop and rock songs, which they often perform to raise money for charity.
