A HOSPICE that provides care for people with life-limiting illness in their own homes and as a day care service has opened a new shop in Northallerton.

The ribbon was cut today (Wednesday, Oct 29) at St Teresa’s Hospice new retail store by Northallerton Mayor Councillor John Forrest.

St Teresa’s Hospice has a reputation for having charity shops with a difference, offering a range of fine furnishings, designer clothes and expertly restored furniture.

Hand-painted dressers, dining room suites, re-varnished occasional tables and re-upholstered chairs, are some of the goods on sale now at the new shop in Northallerton’s Central Arcade.

The ground floor of the premises includes the furnishing department with the upper floor being dedicated to soft furnishings and designer clothes.

The new high street shop will feature labels from Prada to Yves St Laurent and Ralph Lauren to Gucci for men and women.

Retail co-ordinator for the chain Marjorie McIntyre said: “We are delighted to have opened a shop in Northallerton and look forward to bringing some of our now trademark fine furnishings and elegant fashion items to the thriving market town.”

St Teresa’s chief executive Jane Bradshaw said: “It’s with great pleasure we open our tenth St Teresa’s Hospice shop.

“We look forward to bringing residents of the town the very best in high quality pre-loved goods.”

The new shop is looking for volunteers to assist with day-to-day running. Anyone interested in volunteering can find out more information by emailing enquiries@darlingtonhospice.org.uk.
