TWO young apprentices are cutting their teeth in the legal world after being employed by a North Yorkshire law firm.

Annabel Charlton, 18, from Ainderby Steeple and Lauren Almond, 21, from Bagby, near Thirsk, have been taken on by Coles Solicitors in Northallerton.

Annabel joined the practice in September having left Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College in Darlington with three A-Levels.

The 18-year-old has her sights set on a career in law and is currently learning the ropes as an apprentice office assistant on the new business team. As well as doing general office work, she also provides conveyancing quotes for the purchasing and selling of houses.

Miss Charlton said: “I would like to work in family law and am aiming to gain the qualifications I need to become a chartered legal executive.”

Miss Almond also joined the practice in September and is working as an apprentice administration assistant. She is working towards a qualification in business administration and taking night classes in IT.

Peter Gibson, managing director of Coles Solicitors, which has eight practices in Yorkshire, said: “We are always keen to recruit and develop young people from the area and Lauren and Annabel are excellent additions to our ever-expanding team at Coles.”
