A GARDEN nursery is going to take on a more haunting guise during a spooky Halloween celebration for all ages.

Northdale Horticulture, on Yafforth Road in Northallerton, is hosting a Halloween Festival on Friday, October 31.

Between 2pm and 6pm there will be a “fun in the light” celebration for younger children with a creepy trail, face-painting, pumpkin carving and a bouncy castle.

After dark the nursery’s polytunnels will be transformed into an altogether scarier experience for older children and adults.

A dark maze will be set up from 6pm until 9pm, which will include lighting tricks, electric chairs, a claustrophobia tunnel and “live zombies”.

Centre manager Simon Cross said: “This is the first time Northdale has hosted this exciting event. We have thought of Halloween activities to appeal to everyone-from fun in the light to scary at night. Many of the events are under cover so even if rains the activities can continue regardless.”

Refreshments will be available all day with a barbecue from 4pm. The trails are £1 and all other activities are individually priced.
