AN AUCTION house is celebrating the opening of a new saleroom with a celebrity antique valuation day.

Tennants in Leyburn is welcoming star of BBC’s Bargain Hunt and Strictly Come Dancing Tim Wonnacott to host the show in the new Garden Rooms on Thursday, October 2.

BBC Antiques Roadshow’s Adam Schoon will be joining Tennants’ own star valuers Rodney Tennant and Nigel Smith, as well as all of our in-house specialists. The whole team will be on hand to offer free advice and enter items for forthcoming specialist sales.

Twenty years ago, to mark the opening of the existing Tennants saleroom, a similar event was held with the much-loved Henry Sandon of the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow.

A spokeswoman from Tennants said: “That event was a roaring success with learning, laughter and fun had by all.

“We are delighted to be holding a similar event and will look forward to opening the Garden Rooms with you all.”

The event will be from 9am until 3pm, with free valuations on all specialist items including Oriental, silver and gold, jewellery, clocks and watches, sporting, scientific, militaria, stamps, coins, pictures and furniture.
