A LOCAL optician is showing its support for a local children’s football team in time for the new football season.

The Northallerton Specsavers has donated funds to Brompton Juniors FC Under 15s who played their first game of the season on Sunday, September 14 in their new kit. The store stepped in to foot the bill to ensure the team looked their best on the pitch.

Ruth Sinclair, store director at Northallerton Specsavers, said: "We are always delighted to get involved with our local community and are so pleased to be helping Brompton Juniors by purchasing their new kit for the 20014/2015 season.

"We hope the new kit inspires the team to play well and helps them finish the season in a strong position."

Matt Sykes, chairman of Brompton Juniors FC, said: "We’re so pleased that Specsavers could help us out. The boys are thrilled to pieces with their new kit and it honestly means a great deal to the club that they have stepped up and helped us out, we really are very grateful.

"With their new strip, complete with Specsavers logo, the Brompton Juniors looked as professional as a Premier League team."

The Brompton Juniors FC is an FA Charter Standard Community Club for boys and girls from age five to 18.

Last season the team finished third in the Under 14s Division 4.
