A MAN suffered a serious eye injury when he was kicked in the face after a night out.

Police in Northallerton are appealing for information after the local man was attacked in the early hours of Sunday, June 15.

Aged in his 30s, he had been enjoying a night out after watching the England versus Italy World Cup game.

At about 3am he was making his way along Bullamoor Road into Elm Grove where he was attacked by two men.

He was punched to the side of his head and fell to the ground where he was kicked in the face.

He suffered a serious eye injury and was taken to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough where he underwent surgery to insert a plate.

It is still not known whether he has suffered any permanent damage to his sight.

Investigators have carried out extensive enquiries, checking CCTV and carrying out house to house enquiries and are appealing to anyone who can recall seeing a man walking alone along Bullamoor Road or Elm Grove at about 3am.

PC Michael Laing of Northallerton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “It’s vital that anyone who has any information gets in touch.

“The victim has sustained a serious injury which could leave lasting damage to his eyesight.

“I urge anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant they may think it is, to contact us.”
