A 25-YEAR-OLD window fitter killed himself in his ex partner's home three days after leaving a psychiatric unit, an inquest has been told.

Michael Walker, of Prospect View, Northallerton was found hanged at the house on October 4.

Psychiatrist Sarah Stevens of Northallerton’s Friarage Hospital said he had been admitted as a voluntary patient on September 28 when he was suicidal, but over the weekend had been eating and sleeping and interacting with other patients.

She saw him on Monday, October 1 when he said he wanted to go home.

“He appeared bright, a direct contrast to when I had seen him before,” she told the inquest on Tuesday.

Arrangements were made for him to go back to the hospital on October 4.

But coroner Michael Oakley was told efforts to get back together with his ex partner failed and he was distressed about the death of a close friend.

Mr Oakley recorded a verdict that he killed himself.
