A SPECIAL guest was welcomed into the region this week with the visit of the Nepalese Ambassador, Dr Durga Bahadur Subedi.
Richmondshire District Council held a special civic reception at Mercury House where Dr Subedi met the council chairman, Councillor Angie Dale, and other officials.
Representatives from Colburn Town Council also joined the meeting and discussed how links between the two communities could be strengthened.
Cllr Dale said: “We are very honoured that the Ambassador paid us a visit and offered his support and we look forward to working with him in the future.”
Dr Subedi presented Cllr Dale with a ceremonial Khukuri - a Nepalese knife with an inwardly curved blade which is a characteristic weapon of the Gurkha soldiers.
