THE gruelling Paras’ 10 racing challenge will hit a landmark next weekend when it marks its 10th anniversary.

The challenge, at the Infantry Training Centre in Catterick Garrison, has seen more than 10,000 runners complete the course.

It is the same challenge that recruits undergo in order to be worthy of the maroon beret worn by the Parachute Regiment - only they have to run with a 35lb rucksack, helmet and weapon and complete the course in under one hour 50 minutes.

The ten-mile run is open to individuals and teams of four and a two-mile Paras’ 2 for children aged 8-16 will return for another year. Pet owners can even race with their dogs in the Canicross.

The event will take place at 11am on September 3, and all proceeds will go to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and the Parachute Regiment Charity.
