A LONG-serving horse racing worker has been recognised for his dedication to the industry.
Alan Tippling received a Lifetime in Racing Award at a presentation at Catterick Racecourse in honour of his 32-years' of service to Chris Thornton's yard at Middleham.
Mr Tippling, who was born in Sedgefield and brought up in Bishop Auckland, started his career in racing at the age of 15.
He went on to spend his whole career in the industry, with a stint in Italy working for Luca Cumani’s father, Sergio, after which he went to work in Lambourn for Duncan Sasse for a year before returning to Middleham.
Mr Tippling looked after some top horses for Mr Thornton including Path of Piece who won 20 races including at the Cheltenham Festival and the Bogside Cup.
