ROADWORKS are due to take place on the A1 in North Yorkshire later this month.

There will be overnight lane closures and phases of full carriageway closures as the work is carried out between Junction 56 and Junction 51 on the A1, between Barton and Leeming Bar in North Yorkshire.

In addition there will be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction in place 24 hours a day.

The work begins on Monday, July 17 when the southbound and northbound exits at Scotch Corner interchange will be closed with a diversion up and over the junction.

There will also be a closure of the northbound carriageway over junction 56 Barton with a diversion down and under the interchange.

On Tuesday, July 18 and Wednesday, July 19 the northbound carriageway will be closed between junction 50 and junction 52 at Catterick and southbound between Scotch Corner and junction 51 at Leeming.

There will also be the closure of the northbound carriageway over junction 56 at Barton.

• Closure of the northbound carriageway over junction 56 at Barton and southbound carriageway under Scotch Corner on Thursday, July 20 and Friday, July 21.

• Northbound and southbound closure of carriageway between junction 56 Barton and Scotch Corner interchange on Saturday, July 22 and Sunday, July 23.

All these closures will take place between 8pm and 6am with signed diversions in place.
