A PENSIONER is recovering in hospital after the car she was travelling in left the road, leaving her trapped.
Police were called to the B6277 near High Force waterfall, in Teesdale, at around 12.35pm on Sunday where a VW Polo had left the road leaving the woman in her 70s – trapped in the car.
The woman was taken by air ambulance to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough.
She was treated for minor injuries and remains in hospital while she recovers.
The driver escaped uninjured and no other vehicles were involved.
The B6277 was closed for a short time.
