THE A1 has reopened after a collision involving two HGVs resulting in the northbound carriageway being blocked.

One man is believed to have been injured following the incident just south of Scotch Corner and north of Catterick on Thursday.

Police, ambulance and fire crews all attended the scene.

The northbound carriageway was blocked for several hours during the afternoon as emergency crews atteneded the scene and removed the vehicles.

The Northern Echo:

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said during the incident: "We were called at about 2pm to a report of a collision involving two lorries on the A1 northbound near Scotch Corner."

The casualty from one of the lorries was treated, but he is not believed to have been seriously injured.
