A NORTH Yorkshire nature reserve is inviting entries for next year’s calendar competition.

Last year Foxglove Covert Local Nature Reserve at Catterick Garrison ran a successful competition to find attractive pictures for its 2017 calendar.

The response saw 100 photos submitted for the judges to choose just 12 from and the finished calendar quickly sold out.

Now by popular demand, reserve officials are asking for applications for their 2018 Foxglove Covert Calendar.

Any photographs should be taken on the reserve at Foxglove Covert or on the surrounding moorland.

The judges will choose 12 landscape format photographs to be used in the calendar, which illustrate the season or show wildlife.

A suitable portrait format photo will also be selected for the front cover.

Reserve manager Jenifer Care said: “Our calendar needs pictures from different seasons – a great excuse to visit Foxglove regularly to capture the changing moods and seasons on camera.

"Get out soon to catch the wonders of winter, but don’t risk losing or forgetting about that brilliant picture – you can start sending them in anytime from now.”

There are two prizes for photographs the judges consider to be best taken by an adult and by a young person aged 16 years and under.

Entries can be sent as prints, a minimum of 6” x 4” in an envelope marked “Calendar Competition” to Foxglove Covert LNR, Wathgill Camp, Downholme, Richmond, North Yorkshire, DL11 6AH or email to foxglovelnr@btinternet.com with a file size of between 1MB and 4MB, by midnight on Friday September 15.

A title and location should be included along with the photographer's name, contact details and age if 16 years or under.
