A VILLAGE nursery is celebrating after being graded Outstanding by Ofsted.

Little Learners Nursery Centre in Scorton, near Richmond, received the status after an inspection in November last year, and owner Lesley Johnson said he staff had worked incredibly hard to achieve the result.

During 2016 the nursery has undergone some major transformations both indoors and outdoors, sourcing local tradesmen to complete the work including gardeners, builders, joiners, plumbers, decorators and electricians.

The Ofsted inspector said: “Children thoroughly enjoy exploring the highly stimulating environments indoors and outdoors. The staff have chosen many natural resources and furniture to create highly stimulating areas to allow the children to explore the environments with interest.”

“Leaders, managers and the entire staff team are passionate, committed and dedicated to helping children achieve the best possible outcomes. They have an exceptional knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and a deep understanding of how children learn.”

The nursery employs 26 staff both full time and part time, all employed from the local community.

The staff try to involve the children in their local community at every opportunity and often visit the local primary schools to support fundraisers or watch the children perform in their plays or sports days which the nursery children thoroughly enjoy.

To celebrate, the nursery planned a Frozen-themed party, attended by special guests Elsa and Olaf.

“It was a fantastic fun day for the children and staff, and a great reward for everyone’s hard work. I couldn’t be prouder of my team and look forward to 2017," said Mrs Johnson.
