A NATURE reserve has announced the winners for its calendar completion – but the finished product has already sold out.

Featuring scenes taken at Foxglove Covert Local Nature Reserve, in Catterick Garrison or on the surrounding moorland, photographers wanting their entries to be included in the 2017 calendar faced stiff competition. With more than 100 to choose from, judge Ian Short, a professional landscape, nature and wildlife photographer, had to select 12.

Miles Langthorne, of Brompton, with his photo Kingfisher in Rain won the adult category and Leyburn’s Alicia Hayden won the 16 years and under category with her photo Running Deer.

Reserve manager Jennifer Clare said: "Well done to Alicia and Miles; the standard of entry was extremely high, although it shouldn't be a surprise as Foxglove Covert covers 100 acres of moorland edge and we have more than 2,400 different species recorded here.

"All proceeds from the sales of the calendar will go towards running the site."

Entrance to the reserve is free but adults need photographic ID. Visit www.foxglovecovert.org.uk.
