PEOPLE who attend a day centre for the disabled in North Yorkshire are helping to bring some festive cheer this Christmas.

The ABLE Day Centre in Colburn, near Catterick, have been busy making Christmas cards for the festive season.

Work started on the cards back in September and the day centre users, which consists of people with dementia, autism, learning and physical disabilities and mental health problems, have produced a range of different designs.

Other activities at the centre include card making, watercolour painting, glass and pottery painting, woodcraft, soft furnishings, patchwork and embroidery. There is also a resident Pets As Therapy dog called JJ, who provides comfort to clients.

Lynn Tomkinson, ABLE Scheme Manager, said: “Everyone has done such a fantastic job and we are hoping to sell as many cards as possible as all the money raised will go directly back into the work of the centre.”

The limited-edition cards cost £1 and are now available from The ABLE Day Centre, based at Colburn Business Park.
