A SPECTACULAR run which sees people being showered with coloured paint is coming to North Yorkshire.

Herriot Hospice Homecare is hosting its first ever “colour run” at Catterick Racecourse on August 13 – and hopes are high it will be their most successful fundraiser yet.

The 3k and 5k runs will take place around the racecourse, but rather than horses, all people will need to contend with is being blasted by paint cannons.

Colour runs are fast becoming a global phenomenon and Herriot Hospice Homecare is hoping it will attract people from across North Yorkshire and further.

Hundreds have already registered for the event and Herriot is urging people to act quickly if they would like to take part.

Events fundraiser Amy Lingard said: “Tickets are selling fast so to avoid missing out on what promises to be a really spectacular event, we would recommend people to register as soon as possible to secure their places.

“This will be our first ever colour run and we are hoping it will become one of our most successful fundraising events.

“Every penny we raise will be put back into providing services for people with life limiting illnesses in Richmondshire and Hambleton, so by taking part, not only will you have lots of fun, you will also be making a real difference.”

Entry for the run is £20 for people aged 16 and over and £10 for children aged ten to 15. Anyone under ten goes free, but all children under the ages of 16 must be accompanied by a capable parent or guardian.

People who register will receive a starter pack which includes a white T-shirt, a pair of sunglasses, one packet of powder paint and a running number. Medals will also be handed out at the finishing line. Children under ten are advised to bring their own sunglasses.

Merchandise can bought on the day, which includes neon wristbands, tutu's and coveralls - for the journey home.
