YOUNGSTERS became investigators into the past to discover more about the history of their village and surrounding area.
Children at Brompton-on-Swale CE primary in North Yorkshire carried out research on the local area going back as far as Roman times.
The exhibition they created was advertised to parents and the local community to enable them all to find out more about the history of where they live.
And many former pupils turned up to find themselves and relatives in old school photographs dating back as far as the 1930s.
Key stage two leader Emma Saunders said: “The project has provided a great opportunity for the school to work with members of the local and church community.
“Thanks to their support, the children have been able to visit the old school - now the church hall - and the old mill in the village.
“Other members of the community have also provided valuable resources, such as textbooks from the 1960s and helpful research about soldiers on the village war memorial.
“It’s been a fantastic learning experience for all involved. The children have really benefitted from having a purpose for their writing.”
