COUPLES were urged to reminisce this Valentines' Day at a special afternoon tea fundraising event for Catterick Village's Booth Memorial Hall.
Friends of Booth Hall, a group working to restore the hall, organised the Valentines' vintage tea party on Sunday, and asked couples to bring their wedding photographs to display anonymously to try and guess who is who.
Julie and John Key, 68 and 72, married in Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Peterlee in August 1967 and on retirement they settled in Catterick Village.
As part of community life, the couple have been involved in the restoration of the Booth Memorial Hall - which remains a hub of the village for groups of all ages.
She said: “We are not really very romantic ourselves after 49 years of marriage – but we all enjoyed the vintage tea this Valentines’.
“It was a bit of fun. We had around 20 couples coming and there was a prize for anyone who can identify all the couples from their wedding pictures.”
Margaret Tickner, another Friend of Booth Hall, added: "We raised around £300 from the vintage Valentines' tea so it was a great success.
"The hall was packed out and a good time was had by all."
