A VILLAGE church is appealing to people to share their memories of what the building means to them ahead of its 600th anniversary celebrations next month.

St Anne’s Church in Catterick Village is holding a weekend of events on July 25 and 26, including a free barbecue and flower festival.

On Sunday, July 26 at 10.30am Bishop Nick Baines will lead a celebration service followed by a community picnic on the vicarage lawn.

Current vicar, Rev Lindsay Southern, and Rev Stewart Ridley, who grew up in the vicarage while his father was vicar of St Anne’s, are working together to create a display celebrating the role St Anne’s Church has played in people’s lives.

Rev Southern said: “Perhaps you or a member of your family was baptised, confirmed or married at St Anne’s?

“Maybe you sung in the choir, served at the altar, attended Sunday School, rung bells or had a connection through the RAF Regiment Chapel?

“We would love to hear the stories of people’s connection with St Anne’s and what importance it had in their lives to create a display of memories and photographs.”

To contribute stories or pictures contact Rev Ridley on 01748-519359 or stewartridley@uwclub.net by Thursday, July 9.

The church is open between 9am and 5pm daily. Sunday worship is at 10.30 am, and new choir members are welcomed.
