A BARREL-rolling journey to raise cash for Help for Heroes has made a scheduled stop at Phoenix House recovery centre, Catterick Garrison, to meet people who benefit from the charity.

Fitness expert Rob Edmond is leading a team rolling a Bell’s whiskey barrel 517 miles from Perthshire, Scotland to a Help for Heroes recovery centre in Wiltshire to raise funds for the charity, and took time out to visit the northern recovery centre.

Mr Edmond, who is known for his time as a personal trainer on ITV’s The Biggest Loser, embarked on his Bell’s Barrel of Laughs challenge from Blair Athol Distillery on March 23, and actress Joanna Lumley was there to give the first push.

Other comedians and veterans will also be taking turns in pushing the barrel, and the trip will conclude on March 31 at Tedworth House, Wiltshire.

Volunteers with collection buckets will be flanking the team as they trek through the streets with the barrel. The public can pledge their support by texting the word Bells to number 70900.

Bell’s brand manager, Lauren Wahlhaus said: “We’re delighted to have teamed up with Help for Heroes, and we’re thrilled to be able to support those who demonstrate true grit on a daily basis.

“Bell’s Barrel of Laughs is an immense challenge to test participants’ inner strength but also an opportunity to rally together and really support one another through the tough times.”
