SCORES of shoppers were evacuated from Tesco’s superstore at Catterick Garrison on Tuesday (December 30) after fire alarms went off.

North Yorkshire fire and rescue attended and it is understood the alarm was due to a fault on the sprinkler system which triggered the emergency system.

People were asked to wait outside for ten minutes while checks were made throughout the store, but the all clear was given around 4pm. A worker at the store said there was no panic or problems shoppers were simply asked to wait outside while the area was checked.
