Staff and residents at a Catterick Garrison nursing home are celebrating after senior carer Paula McIvor was announced as a finalist in the National Care Awards.

Ms McIvor started her career at Rosedale Nursing Home as a care assistant before working as an activities coordinator, then returning to care before being promoted to a senior carers role.

She was nominated because of her approachable, caring nature and her dedication to providing the highest quality care to residents.

“I was so happy to have just been nominated so to make it through to the finals is absolutely incredible.”

“I love working at Rosedale and find my job so rewarding” said MsMcIvor.

The National Care Awards, now in its 16th year, is an annual ceremony which aims at celebrating the very best people in the long term care sector. Individuals across all parts of the sector are nominated by residents, families or colleagues for an award category before judges select five finalists.

In the carer award category judges were looking for evidence of dedication to providing consistently outstanding levels of care, sensitivity to residents and how they have developed their career through training programmes.

Ms McIvor and the other four finalists will attend an interview at the Hilton Hotel in London on Monday, October 20 and the winner will be announced at the awards gala on November 28

Care manager at Rosedale Anna Masheter said: “We are delighted that Paula has made it to the finals. She is an outstanding carer who is well loved by residents, their families and other members of staff. I am so pleased and proud of her.”
