CHILDREN at a unique farm nursery became television stars for the day as they welcomed BBC cameras into their grounds.
The children of Mini Explorers Nursery in Little Holtby, North Yorkshire, hosted CBeebies presenter and former JLS singer JB Gill who was filming for his upcoming children’s series ‘Down on the Farm’.
Mini Explorers, dubbed the UK’s first Farm School Nursery, was chosen as a filming location because of its beautiful farm setting on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, and its ethos of teaching children about the farming landscape and way of life.
In the programme, which is set to air in the spring, Mini Explorers’ youngest members proudly showed JB around their Farm School, and introduced him to some of their latest projects, with help from the nursery’s resident farming expert Mark Pybus.
The recent snow thwarted the initial plan of a ploughing demonstration, so instead the children took JB to their kitchen gardens and opened compost balls and digged the contents into the beds ready for planting later in the year.
This was followed by feeding the nursery’s flock of Herdwick sheep.
Mr Pybus said: “Despite the freezing temperatures, our children know that farming doesn’t stop, and we had a great time filming with JB and the crew in the snow.”
