COUNCIL environmental health officers are warning landlords to ensure their properties are properly insulated ahead of new regulations coming in.
Research from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health shows that homes rented from a landlord or letting agency are more likely to be poorly insulated and cold than those that are owner occupied.
Paul Staines, director of leisure and environment for Hambleton District Council is urging landlords to ensure their rental properties are fully insulated and is advising tenants to contact the council if they have issues.
From April 2018 new Government energy efficiency regulations will also come into force which means that landlords will not be permitted to rent out their properties if they are rated at E or F on the official Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).
