TODDLERS enjoyed a storytime session with a difference - with their local MP doing the honours.
Rishi Sunak, the Tory MP for Richmond, kept a longstanding promise to read to youngsters at Bedale Community Library- which became a volunteer-run community library in Bedale Hall earlier this year.
And he was able to put affairs of state to one side to read a series of toddlers' favourites including Spot Bakes a Cake, Maisy Goes By Plane and How Many Legs? to the children and their parents and carers.
Mr Sunak said afterwards: "I have followed the library's progress from being a local authority-run facility to being firmly established as an entirely volunteer-run community hub.
"It is good to see it is doing so well and I was delighted to be able to return to lead the storytime session."
The library is this week (October 9-14) celebrating National Libraries Week and ii holding a coffee morning for volunteers, friends and supporters on Wednesday, November 1, between 10am and noon in Bedale Hall.
