THE latest landmark fund raising event in a year long campaign by determined twins Jonathan and David Stretton-Downes to raise £100,000 for the British Heart Foundation is held on Saturday.

SIX TIMES OPEN was launched by the 28 year old twins, from Bedale, to mark Jonathan's lifelong battle, which has seen him undergo open heart surgery five times with the latest operation due later this year.

They launched the campaign to raise money and change the stereotyped image of people with heart conditions, sharing their experiences to challenge and encourage people. "We really have been overwhelmed by the reaction so far. We have had people contacting us from all over the world," said Mr Stretton-Downes.

On Saturday September 30 to mark World Heart Day, a series of 5k runs is being held around the country at Bedale, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Leeds, Northampton and London, New competitors are invited, the Bedale run starts at 11am in Bedale Hall Park.
