THE town of Bedale is preparing to spruce itself up for summer.

Following the success of its first spring clean in March, residents, local businesses and organisations are all encouraged to join forces on June 11, to sweep in a smart new look for summer.

Organised by the Bedale Villages Community Forum in partnership with the district council, town council and local businesses with support and advice from the county council, its aim is to “present historic Bedale at its best for the new visitor season.”

One of the organisers, he district’s market town project officer David McKnight, said:“After the praise we got from the spring clean, we are hoping that residents will come along and join us.

“The visitor economy is vitally important to Bedale, and it is in everyone’s interest to work together and keep Bedale on the visitor map.”

The clean-up is taking place from 7am to 3pm and residents and businesses are asked to meet at Bedale Hall or for more information, contact david.mcknight@hambleton.gov.uk or call 07759 284 266. Refreshments will be available and shifts of two hours are recommended.
