A NORTH Yorkshire brewery has secured a place on a beer map of Britain, which includes information about the best regional breweries in Britain and Ireland and where to find them.

The Black Sheep brewery in Masham, North Yorkshire, features in the guide to the top 15 counties for beer as recommended by author and award-winning beer and food writer Melissa Cole.

The beer sommelier has teamed up with travel company Expedia to create her interactive guide, aimed at travellers planning a cottage break.

With destinations throughout Great Britain, it is designed to inspire holidaymakers to get to know the food and drink in the area they are staying.

The map includes information about each featured brewery and their must-try ales.

Throughout the year, Expedia will be inviting food and drink bloggers to develop original recipes inspired by the must-try ales as recommended by Melissa Cole, to show that the holiday can continue once travellers return home from their cottage stays in the UK and Ireland.

Jen Clark, from Expedia, said: “Expedia created this campaign in the hope to encourage tourism throughout the UK and Ireland for everyone, from the beer connoisseur to those simply interested in learning a bit more about breweries.

"We’ve collaborated with award-winning beer writer Melissa Cole; her insights and knowledge of the beer industry bring a real added value to this map."
