A YOUTH club criticised after red paint was splashed about nearby say they are concerned anti-social behaviour outside may give their centre a bad name.
Neighbours of Bedale Youth Venue had said they were concerned about problems outside the centre in South End - but the group committee said they were not aware that the paint problems were caused by one of their members.
The committee added: “The venue does operate a strict behavioural policy which includes no smoking or alcohol allowed on the premises.
“Any youth found to be in breach of the policy would be barred. When the venue is open the staff do regularly patrol outside to ensure everything is calm. However we would like to point out that we have no legal jurisdiction over the behaviour of youths outside the venue.
“We would also urge the local residents to please contact the venue with any issues they may have. The committee would like to invite the residents to come and have a social chat with us to discuss any concerns."
