THE town of Bedale is busy preparing for it’s first “Big Spring Clean.”

Residents, businesses and organisations are all being encouraged to join forces on March 12, to brush away the winter blues and usher in a smart new look for spring.

Organised by the Bedale Villages Community Forum together with Hambleton District Council, the town council and local businesses, its aim is to “present historic Bedale at its best for the new visitor season.”

“The visitor economy is vitally important to Bedale,” said local ward member, Cllr Carl Les.

“Visitors are choosy about the places they visit so we need to ensure that our historic town looks welcoming and inviting. The district council is very support of this initiative and it is in everyone’s interest to work together and keep Bedale on the visitor map. I hope if successful this will become an annual event.”

The clean-up is taking place from 7am to 3pm. For more information, contact David McKnight at david.mcknight@hambleton.gov.uk or call 07759 284266.
